Commissions
I create fine art portraits of a wide range of animals and wildlife in a variety of styles and different sizes. Using mainly pencil, each piece is developed to get the best representation I can upon your request.
All artwork is created on the finest quality papers and are presented unmounted. Sizes vary from small A4 studies up to larger works, this depends on the subject, budget and request.
I aim to create an illustration that you are happy with and I love getting to know about my customers and their animals. This is such a personal undertaking and I will do my utmost to deliver your request.
The Process
Here's how the commissioning process works;
-
Get in touch with me by email.
-
We will chat about your requirements and I will give you the total cost and approximate timescale.
-
I ask that you send me some photographs, which we will discuss and pick the best ones to base your artwork on.
-
I will then proceed with the artwork, letting you know of my progress as I go.
-
When the illustration is complete, I will invite you to see it, or send you photographs. If you are happy with the works, I will request payment and the art is yours.
Mark Bernhardt
Holly has a knack for capturing the essence of real life. Her portrait of a friends dog really comes to life for those that know the dog. She’s open to commissions and if you can provide a few photos she will deliver an amazingly clever result. Her style is realism, down to the nearest (dog) hair in this case and if that’s what you’re after she’s totally nailed it.

Thank you, I was so excited to receive the portrait of my dog Hudson from Holly, who encapsulated his personality and surpassed my expectations. There is so much more ‘life’ in this portrait than in a photograph. I would wholly recommend!
Elizabeth Tuck
Absolutely thrilled with the portrait of Bertie. It was amazing that after only sending a couple of photos, Holly captured the image of Bertie to perfection.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long does a portrait take?
I can't give you an exact time as it depends on the time you have booked your portrait. Leading up to Christmas I am very busy so you need to book well in advance as it may not be finished by then. If there is a certain deadline I will try and get it finished a week before then so you have plenty of time to wrap it up.
When do you need payment?
I only accept payment once you are happy with the works. I have never asked for a deposit as I trust my clients fully to send me full payment once it is complete.
What photos do you need?
I can only draw as well as the reference photos provided. I need one image that you would really love drawn and then a few others to give me an idea of the personality of the animal.
I live abroad, do you ship internationally?
Yes, I ship all over the world. There will be an extra cost to this but not as much as you think. It normally takes around 2 – 3 weeks to get to you so make sure you leave plenty of time to book your portrait. Get in touch and I will give you an estimated price.
Do you illustrate other subjects other than animals?
Yes, I do. If you have an idea in mind, why not get in touch for a chat!

PHOTOGRAPHY
I cannot emphasise enough that the better the image you give me, the better the portrait will be. Ideally, I like to be able to choose from multiple images of the subject.
